Kodi (formerly known as XBMC) is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media center developed by the XBMC Foundation, a non-profit technology consortium. Kodi 16 code name is Jarvis. Kodi runs on Linux, OS X, Windows, iOS, and Android, featuring a 10-foot user interface for use with televisions and remote controls. It allows users to play and view most videos, music, podcasts, and other digital media files from local and network storage media and the internet. The latest version of Kodi 16.0 released on February 20, 2016.

1) Install Kodi on Ubuntu
We can easily install latest version of Kodi by adding below PPA into our Ubuntu & Mint systems such as Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 15.10 & 16.04, LinuxMint 17.1, LinuxMint 17.2 & LinuxMint 17.3.
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kodi
To install a PVR addon, run the following command and replace the XXXXXX with the PVR addon of your choice:
$ sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-XXXXXXX [kodi-pvr-dev | kodi-pvr-argustv | kodi-pvr-demo | kodi-pvr-dvbviewer | kodi-pvr-iptvsimple | kodi-pvr-mediaportal-tvserver | kodi-pvr-mythtv | kodi-pvr-nextpvr | kodi-pvr-njoy | kodi-pvr-hts | kodi-pvr-vdr-vnsi | kodi-pvr-vuplus]
2) Install Kodi on Debian
We can easily install latest version of Kodi by adding below debian-backports repository.
$ sudo sh -c "echo 'deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie-backports main' >> /etc/apt/sources.list" $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kodi
3) Install Kodi on openSUSE
We can easily install latest version of Kodi by Enabling Packman repository.
# zypper in kodi
