How to Install Windows 10 Theme & Icon suite for Linux

Windows 10 made a revolution after causing a lot of noise in the tech world for Microsoft once again, how Windows XP & Windows 7 made it. Many people loved the Windows 10 graphical interface is very pretty & looking good. it’s available for Linux Desktop too.

It’s support all the major Linux Desktop Environment such as Unity, Cinnamon Gnome, XFCE, Mate, OpenBox, LXDE, GTK 3.x & KDE Plasma 5 but causing some issues on GNOME 3, i advise users to don’t use on Gnome Environment and much suitable for Cinnamon & XFCE.

Two variant available Light & Dark both are good and option is your whichever you want you can use. We know lot of themes are available then why ? Windows theme & icon for Linux. Its purely targeting new users who’s migrating from Windows to Linux.

We can easily install the theme & icon suite to debian based system using .dep file such as Debian, Ubuntu & mint. For other distribution we have to install manually using zip file.

1) Install Windows 10 Theme & Icon Suite to Linux

We can easily install Windows 10 Icon & Theme by downloading the zip file from developer github page. After download the zip file, simple extract to /usr/share/themes. For Icon suite, visit developer github page then download the zip file and extract to /usr/share/icons.

1a) Install Windows 10 Icon & Theme on Debian, Ubuntu & LinuxMint

We can easily install Windows 10 Icon & Theme to Debian based systems using .deb file.

$ sudo https://github.com/Elbullazul/Windows-10/releases/download/v0.9.6/windows-10-tp_0.9-6.amd64.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i windows-10-tp_0.9-6.amd64.deb

1b) Install Windows 10 Light Theme Manually on Linux

Download the zip file from developer github page, then extract to /usr/share/themes for all supported desktop Environment.

$ cd /usr/share/themes
$ sudo https://github.com/Elbullazul/Windows-10/releases/download/v0.9.6/Windows.10.Light.v0.9.6.zip
$ sudo unzip Windows.10.Light.v0.9.6.zip
$ sudo rm -Rf Windows.10.Light.v0.9.6.zip

1c) Install Windows 10 Dark Theme Manually on Linux

Download the zip file from developer github page, then extract to /usr/share/themes for all supported desktop Environment.

$ cd /usr/share/themes
$ sudo https://github.com/Elbullazul/Windows-10/releases/download/v0.9.6/Windows.10.Dark.v0.9.6.zip
$ sudo unzip Windows.10.Dark.v0.9.6.zip
$ sudo rm -Rf Windows.10.Dark.v0.9.6.zip

1d) Install Windows 10 Icon Theme Manually on Linux

Download the zip file from developer github page, then extract to /usr/share/icons for all supported desktop Environment.

$ cd /usr/share/icons
$ sudo https://github.com/Elbullazul/Windows-10/releases/download/v0.9.6/Windows.10.Icons.v0.4.1.zip
$ sudo unzip Windows.10.Icons.v0.4.1.zip
$ sudo rm -Rf Windows.10.Icons.v0.4.1.zip
