Neptune 4.3 Release notes & Upgrade steps

Neptune project proudly announced the general availability of Neptune 4.3, on March 21, 2015. Nepture is based on Debian distribution. This is the third service release to Neptune 4 came with improvements, bugfixes and updates. The foundation of this release is represented by the current Debian 7.8 (‘Wheezy’).

Neptune is a GNU/Linux Distribution for desktops, based on Debian Stable, except for a new kernel and some drivers. It ships with a modern KDE Plasma Desktop to provide an elegant out of the box experience for the users. It is using own kernel. Neptune uses a combination of debian and own software sources. Neptune ships with two software repositories. The main one contains all neptune related configuration and applications + kernel. The second one is called the KDE Repo and contains all KDE SC applications and tools such as kmail or kcontact.

How to Upgrade Neptune to latest version

Use the below commands to upgrade your system from Neptune 4.2 to 4.3.

# Update repository list #
[email protected]:~$ sudo apt-get update

# Update all the packages to latest version and OS #
[email protected]:~$ sudo apt-get upgrade
