Linux Lite 2.6 Upgrade

Linux Lite is fully functional out of the box, which was designed who are new to Linux or for people who want a lightweight environment for desktop and laptop. Linux Lite project proudly announced the general availability of Linux Lite 2.6 on September 01, 2015. Linux Lite is based on Ubuntu distribution. This is the Fourth release to Linux Lite 2.x series. In this release they introduction of the Linux Lite Control Center, we aim to provide one central location for everything that you need to configure your computer. What’s new – Systemback, a system restore and creation tool. Disks, an easy to use partition, hard drive and SSD manager. A new Dark Theme. Updates to some of our Lite applications. As well as the usual latest versions of – Firefox 40.0.3, LibreOffice, Thunderbird 38.2.0

Note : 1) Don’t forget to take backup of your important/valuable data. If something goes wrong we will install freshly and restore the data.
2) Upgrade will take time based on your internet connection

1) Checking the current version of my Desktop

See my current desktop version in the below snapshot. Currently i’m using Linux Lite 2.4. Menu >> ALL >> System Information >> Summary.

2) How to Upgrade Linux Lite to latest version

Use the below commands to upgrade your system from Linux Lite 2.x to 2.6.

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install lite-upgrade-series2 -y

Navigate to Lite Upgrade package. Menu >> Settings >> Lite Upgrade
Linux Lite upgrade utility.
Linux Lite Upgrade Under Process.
Upgrade complted, then reboot.
Now, I’m in latest version.
