Vuze 5.7.1.0 Bittorrent Client released with lot of New Features

Vuze (previously Azureus) is a BitTorrent client used to download torrent files using BitTorrent protocol. This is one of the most popular BitTorrent clients which was using widely because of the features. Vuze is written in Java, and uses the Azureus Engine. 1) Install Vuze on Manual Method to All Distro 32-bit & 64-bit

There is no official repository for vuze latest version. So, better we can install it manually by firing the below commands into our systems. Java is mandatory to run Vuze. So, make sure your system should have installed Java.

[Checking JAVA Version]
# java -version
java version "1.7.0_95"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.4) (7u95-2.6.4-0ubuntu0.15.10.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)

[Download Latest Vuze installer archive file]
$ wget http://cf1.vuze.com/files/VuzeInstaller.tar.bz2

[Optional : Remove older installation (If you have)]
$ rm -Rf /opt/vuze*

[Extract the Archive file]
$ tar -xjvf VuzeInstaller.tar.bz2

[Move the files to Vuze directory]
$ mv vuze /opt/vuze

[Launch Vuze]
$ ./vuze
or
$ ./azureus

2) Install Vuze in Ubuntu/Linux Mint/Debian

Just GetDeb Repository to install latest version of Vuze 5.7 to Ubuntu and Derivatives system. This guide will suitable for Ubuntu 15.10, 15.04, 4.10 & 14.04, Linux Mint 17.2, Linux Mint 17.1, Linux Mint 17, Debian 7.0 & Debian 8.0

[Download GetDeb repository]
$ wget http://archive.getdeb.net/install_deb/getdeb-repository_0.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb

#[nstall/Enable GetDeb repository]
$ sudo dpkg -i getdeb-repository_0.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb

[Update Repository index]
$ sudo apt-get update

[Install Vuze]
$ sudo apt-get install vuze

[Remove Vuze]
$ sudo apt-get remove vuze

3) How to download file using Vuze

You can download the torrent file using two methods.

  • Add torrent link to Vuze
  • Add torrent file to Vuze

Just copy the source link from website and add into Vuze bittorrent by clicking Open Torrents button under main menu >> Past url >> OK.
