  1. Hi. I have Mint 17.3, and its official repositories come with VLC 2.1.6 and there seems to be no chance to get it updated from there. So I’m trying to update vlc to 2.2.2 using your method. The problem is that, even having added the PPA, VLC version defaults to 2.1.6, no matter what.
First I tried “sudo apt-get install –only-upgrade vlc” and, as it did not work, I uninstalled vlc as “sudo apt-get remove –purge vlc”; then back to install: 2.1.6 again…
    Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

    1. Good catch, The PPA support Ubuntu versions are 15.04, 15.10 & 16.04 & Mint 17.3 based on Ubuntu 14.04 that’s why.

I have added another PPA for Mint which will support VLC 2.2.1, Hope you will feel happy.
